Welcome! I’m Mel Lindsey, the hands, heart, and the sewing needle behind Mystic Moss.

I started this business after more than a decade of experience in theater costuming, custom sewing, and one-on-one fittings for people of all shapes, sizes, styles, and stories. My background in theater gave me more than a love of ball gowns (ask me about my collection!), it taught me how to build entire worlds from scratch. Now, I bring that same creativity and care to every project I take on.

Whether you’re preparing for a wedding, reviving your favorite piece of clothing, transforming a beloved heirloom into something new, or dreaming up a custom creation from scratch, I approach every garment like a new puzzle: one that deserves thought, respect, and a bit of magic.

I’m here to help you feel like the best version of yourself in what you wear.

I created Mystic Moss as a space that’s welcoming to everyone. This is a body-positive, LGBTQ+-inclusive business. Fittings can be vulnerable experiences, and I don’t take that lightly. I work hard to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where your needs come first, and your story shapes the process. Whether we’re pinning hems or reimagining heirlooms, my goal is to always provide a comfortable, empowering experience.

Behind the scenes, I’m supported by my fiancé Corey, who keeps the tech and website updated and running smoothly. Mystic Moss may be a one-woman operation at the sewing machine, but like every great garment, it’s stitched together with teamwork.

And while I do alterations, I do so much more than alterations. I’m always learning about people, textiles, history, and new ways to create something meaningful. Mystic Moss is an environment where creativity thrives, sustainability matters, and projects – big or small – are treated with the same heart and hands-on attention.

I hope to someday expand Mystic Moss into a collaborative studio space where others can come together to learn, create, and feel empowered, too!
